Also, people need to learn to read before jumping the gun on something they don't understand or have not bothered to fact check.
The info from this release update https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases/tag/1.25.0 under item (1) states that:
"Important: "IP address" refers to the IP address of network requests fired by your browser, not the specific IP address assigned to you, uBO has no access to your specific IP address." - Rated 5 out of 5by Virkkunen, 6 years ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 15709650, 6 years agoNo problems with the old versions. As long as they work you can use any of them. Wish I could update to the recent but I will not let any add-on be used for data mining.

See release notes.
Changes:
uBO requires a new permission, dns, which is required to solve issue 780. This may triggers a new permission warning from Firefox when uBO updates to the latest dev build, specifically "Access IP address and hostname information", even though this was already possible for uBO to access that information.
From now on uBO will CNAME-uncloak network requests. CNAME-uncloaked network requests will appear as blue entries in the popup panel and the logger. The uncloaked entries in the popup panel will also show the related aliases (in smaller characters underneath the canonical names).
Network requests which were blocked, redirected, or excepted by a filter/rule are not uncloaked. Canonical hostnames which are first party to the associated alias hostname are not fed back into uBO's filtering engine.
Warning: CNAME-aliased hostnames exist most likely for content delivery purpose, i.e. legitimate. - Rated 5 out of 5by Nimnul, 6 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15703644, 6 years agoКогда любое ПО становится популярным, возникает вопрос об его этичности по отношению к пользователям. Проблемы с правами доступа к IP твоего компа нет - dns API только позволяет резолвить доменные имена используя твой DNS, просто firefox показывает неправильное сообщение:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1617861
https://pontoon.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/all-resources/?string=176403
Прежде чем прекратить использовать uBlock Origin и писать негативный отзыв о правах на доступ к IP, пожалуйста потрать немного своего времени, чтобы прочитать что пишет об этом разработчик:
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Permissions#access-ip-address-and-hostname-information
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/780
В теории, всё может повредить твоей анонимности, но это не похоже на повод для излишнего беспокойства. Однако в случае, если ты используешь SOCKS5 и переживаешь за утечку DNS, обрати внимание на эти треды:
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/911
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1618271

When any software becomes popular, there rises a question on it's ethics related to it's users. uBlock Origin does not access your host's IP - dns API only allows to resolve domain names using your DNS, but firefox seems to mislead users on that matter showing confusing prompts:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1617861
Before you stop using uBlock Origin and write negative review on IP permissions issue, please spare some of your time to read what developer tells about this:
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Permissions#access-ip-address-and-hostname-information
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/780
In theory, everything can damage your anonimity, but it seems there's no need to worry too much on that case.
But if you use SOCKS5 and care about DNS leaking, check those threads:
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/911
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1618271
I hope developers are really just trying to make another way of tracking people impossible. While firefox/extension developers should fix possibility of local DNS leaks.
BTW, you can disable this feature: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Advanced-settings#cnameuncloak
