Privacy policy for Decant — Clean XLSX from Google Sheets
Decant — Clean XLSX from Google Sheets by nickyd206
Effective date: June 2026
Decant ("the extension") is designed to do one thing: export the Google Sheet you are currently viewing as a clean .xlsx file saved to your computer. This policy explains how it handles your information.
Data we collect: None.
Decant does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, browsing history, spreadsheet contents, or usage analytics. There are no trackers and no third-party analytics of any kind.
How the extension works:
When you click the Decant button on an open Google Sheet, the extension reads the address of the active tab to identify which spreadsheet to export, then requests that spreadsheet's standard .xlsx export directly from Google using your existing Google session. The file is processed entirely on your own device — formulas are flattened to values and the file is cleaned and recompressed in your browser's memory — and then saved to your Downloads folder. At no point is your spreadsheet, or any other information, sent to the developer or to any server other than Google's own export service that you are already signed in to.
Permissions:
- "activeTab" is used only when you click the extension, solely to read the address and title of the Google Sheet you are viewing.
- Access to docs.google.com and googleusercontent.com is used only to download your spreadsheet's export from Google. Google's export service redirects the download to googleusercontent.com, which is why both are listed.
- "downloads" is used only to save the finished .xlsx file to your Downloads folder.
No remote code:
All of the extension's code, including its libraries, is bundled in the extension package. Nothing is downloaded or executed from a remote source.
