PESU-MAX Privacy Policy

PESU-MAX is a Firefox browser extension designed to help PES University students access and use PESU Academy features more efficiently. Features include attendance and GPA viewing, course material downloads, faculty lookup, and optional merged PDF downloads.

PESU-MAX processes user data solely to provide these student utility features. The extension is not intended for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to its core functionality.

When using PESU-MAX, the extension may process information available through PESU Academy, including authentication and session information such as the JSESSIONID session cookie, profile information such as name, PRN, SRN, program, branch, semester, section, campus, and where available, email address and phone number, academic information including semesters, enrolled subjects, attendance records, SGPA and CGPA values, download-related information such as selected subjects, classes, content types, merge preferences, and generated download filenames, faculty search queries entered by the user, and publicly available faculty profile information retrieved from the PES staff website.

Information is collected directly from PESU Academy pages and APIs while the user is logged in, from browser extension storage used by PESU-MAX, and from actions initiated by the user such as downloading materials, searching for faculty, or requesting merged PDF downloads.

PESU-MAX stores extension data locally on the user's device using browser.storage.local. The extension does not operate or maintain a separate external database for user information.

To provide requested functionality, PESU-MAX may communicate with PESU Academy services, PESU file servers, the PES staff directory, and iLovePDF services when necessary. PDF files selected for merged downloads are merged locally in the browser using the pdf-lib library and are not uploaded to a third-party PDF merging service. However, when a user explicitly requests merged PDF output for supported Office documents such as PPT, PPTX, DOC, or DOCX files, those files may be transmitted to iLovePDF solely for conversion to PDF before the final merged download is generated.

PESU-MAX is intended to process information only after user consent has been obtained through Firefox's built-in extension data collection consent mechanisms where applicable. Users may stop using the extension at any time and may remove stored extension data whenever they choose.

Users remain in control of their data and may log out of PESU Academy, uninstall the extension, clear extension storage through Firefox add-on settings, or avoid using optional features such as faculty lookup and merged download functionality.

Data stored by PESU-MAX remains on the user's device until it is updated through normal extension operation, manually cleared by the user, or removed when the extension is uninstalled.

PESU-MAX does not sell user data, does not use user data for targeted advertising, and does not share user data with data brokers. Information is processed only to provide the features requested by the user.

PESU-MAX uses standard browser extension APIs and HTTPS connections to authorized services required for extension functionality. While reasonable measures are taken to protect information, no method of storage or transmission can guarantee absolute security.

PESU-MAX is intended for university students and users and is not directed toward children under the age of 13.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in features, legal requirements, or compliance obligations. The most recent version will be made available with the extension and project materials.
