PIA respects your privacy. Here is what the extension uses and why.

Account & bookmarks
PIA uses a free account at pia-app.online. Pages you deliberately save (URL and title) are sent to the PIA server to be enriched with AI (title, summary, tags) and added to your collection. This data belongs to your account.

Browsing history
With your permission, PIA uses the "history" permission to recognise sites you visit regularly and to show suggestions. This analysis happens on your own device; your full history is not uploaded.

Google (optional)
If you connect your Google account, PIA requests read-only access to Gmail, Calendar and Tasks to display counts and items on your dashboard. PIA changes nothing and does not store this data on its servers. Your access token is kept locally in the browser and can be revoked at any time by signing out.

Storage
Preferences, your login token and caches are stored locally in the browser.

Sharing
PIA does not sell your data and does not share it with third parties, except the services required to provide the feature (the PIA server and, for AI enrichment, the connected AI provider).
