- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16024671, 2 years agoWrite about my experience with this add-on? I wasted hours trying to figure out why I could have only one tab per domain. It didn't matter if the url was completely different. Utter POS because the PEUJ who designed it doesn't even know the meaning of "duplicate". IT MEANS "EXACTLY THE SAME", got that? Read again.

posted 5 days agoWhat you experienced is the result of the "Ignore path part in URL (domain only)" option being enabled in your settings. When that option is on, the extension considers any two tabs on the same domain as duplicates, regardless of the path. It is off by default.
Turning that option off in the Options page will restore the default behavior, where only tabs with identical URLs are considered duplicates.
If you are still using the extension, v4.2.0 was just released with a number of UI improvements, including a clearer duplicate tabs list that shows which tabs will be closed. - Rated 1 out of 5by LordFool, 3 years agoIt keeps closing som4 local tabs on my network, basic local IPs. Nope.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17422434, 4 years agoHours gone to waste because of this piece of crap. Instead of closing just duplicates, it closed all tabs that I had 2 or more of open. So for example, I had two copies of a tab. It closed them both. Ctrl-shift-T only goes back so far. I'm going to have to start all the way back at the beginning now. I can't even express my rage at this useless extension. I completely regret I ever got it.

posted 5 days agoIf you are still interested in the extension: the intended behavior of "Close duplicates" is to keep one tab per group and close the rest. For 2 copies of a tab, it should close 1 and keep 1. Closing all copies is not expected behavior.
It is possible this was a bug in the version you were using that has since been fixed, or that the kept tab ended up in a different window if "All windows" scope was active. Either way, losing tabs is a serious problem and the frustration is completely understandable.
If you are willing to try again with the current version and it happens again, please report it at https://github.com/Peuj/duplicate-tabs-closer/issues with details on what you did and which version you were using. That would help track down whether this is still reproducible. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13489341, 6 years agoIt doesn't work well recently. It needs to be fixed.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13119159, 8 years agoAs of October 2022 No longer functions at all. Removing.
Not a bad addon but could use a lot more functionality. For starters, it needs a whitelist for sites that are okay to duplicate, which is often necessary. Also, a simple "Close tab automatically" function really isn't the best way to handle a duplicate inadvertently being opened. For example, say you forget you've already got Google open and you type a search in the address bar (which I have set to auto open in a new tab). Rather than the new tab opening with the search I just typed, it switches to the old tab, with an old search in it, which is at first pretty disconcerting. In this case it makes more sense to close the old tab, not the new one, but again, maybe I actually do want them both open. There needs to be a white list. Did I say there needs to be a white list? There needs to be a white list.
RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER'S COMMENT: If you think I gave it two stars just for missing one feature, you didn't even bother to read the whole review. Two stars stands I now I don't even want to bother seeing if it's improved. You need to learn what reviews are for.Developer response
posted 8 years agoHi,
You could have made it easier and shorter to simply request a White list. :)
It has already been requested and it's planned, I just miss time.
Note: 2 stars for a missing feature seems pretty strict (even I don't care, I just share for free an add-on I've developed for me) - Rated 1 out of 5by walkerpb, 8 years agoIt's not automatic deleting the duplicate tabs as far as I could tell

posted 8 years agoHi,
I guess the option "Close tab automatically" is not selected.
Click on the "Duplicate Tab Closer" button.
In the popup panel =>click on "Options" => click on "On duplicate tab detected" => select "Close tab automatically".
As the add-on is not named "Automatic Duplicate Tabs Closer", the option to auto close the tabs is not activate by default. ;) - Rated 1 out of 5by bafra-acizade-cig-kofte, 9 years agofacebook , gmail etc exclude list feature dont work...........................
